The neck circle stretch is a gentle mobility drill where you slowly rotate your head in full circles to mobilize the cervical spine and stretch the neck muscles in all directions. How to perform

  • Sit or stand tall with shoulders pulled back and down.
  • Slowly drop your chin toward your chest.
  • Begin to slowly roll your head in a clockwise circle: chin to right shoulder, then back of head behind, then to left shoulder, and back to chin down.
  • Make the circle as large and slow as comfortable. Each circle should take 5 to 8 seconds.
  • Complete 3 to 5 circles in the clockwise direction.
  • Reverse and complete 3 to 5 circles counter-clockwise.
  • Stop immediately if you feel any pinching or sharp pain.
  • Move slowly throughout. Never force the rotation.
