Partner Shuffle
The partner shuffle (mirror drill) is a reactive agility drill where two athletes face each other in athletic stances. One athlete leads with random lateral movements, and the other mirrors them in real-time. It develops reactive change-of-direction speed and reading-the-opponent skills critical for team sports. How to perform

  • Two athletes stand facing each other 5 to 10 feet apart in athletic stances.
  • Designate one as the leader and one as the follower.
  • The leader begins shuffling laterally β€” left, right, forward, backward, in any pattern they choose.
  • The follower mirrors the leader’s movements in real-time β€” moving in the same direction.
  • The leader changes direction frequently to challenge the follower’s reactive ability.
  • Continue for 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Switch roles. The follower becomes the leader.
  • Stay low in athletic stance throughout. Quick, precise footwork.
