The lateral speed step is a quick footwork drill where you rapidly step side to side over a line or marker on the ground. How to perform

  • Stand next to a line, cone, or marker on the ground. Athletic stance β€” knees bent, hips back.
  • Rapidly step over the line with both feet β€” right foot crosses, left foot follows.
  • Immediately step back over the line β€” left foot leads, right foot follows.
  • Continue rapidly stepping over and back as fast as possible.
  • Stay on the balls of your feet. Keep your body low and your arms pumping.
  • Move with precision β€” each foot should clear the line cleanly.
  • Perform for 10 to 30 seconds per set.
  • Focus on speed and clean footwork.
