Dumbbell Overhead Walking Lunge
The dumbbell overhead walking lunge is an advanced exercise where you walk forward in alternating lunges while holding two dumbbells locked out overhead. Key Benefits

  • Builds elite shoulder stability and core strength
  • Trains overhead position under dynamic load
  • Develops total-body coordination
  • Builds the legs, glutes, and shoulders simultaneously
  • Excellent for athletes needing overhead stability
  • Time-efficient compound exercise

How to perform

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand.
  • Press both dumbbells overhead until arms are fully extended. Lock them out directly above your shoulders.
  • Brace your core. Pull your shoulders down and back. Stand tall.
  • Step your right foot forward into a lunge. Lower until your back knee is just above the floor.
  • Drive through your right foot to step forward into the next lunge with your left leg.
  • Continue alternating, walking forward while keeping the dumbbells locked out overhead.
  • Keep your core braced and the dumbbells stable. Do not let them drift forward or backward.
  • Use moderate weight β€” overhead stability is the limiting factor.
